TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH

I loved the Luther Wishard quote, ‘I’m willing to go any where, at any time, to do anything for Jesus.’ And I thought, I really want that for my life. I really want to be able to say, Lord just do whatever you want for my life.

The whole #reachWantakia team!

It’s time for episode number three in our Missions series! Do I have a treat for you! God is so cool because, well, He just is…BUT ALSO because The Sanders family just happened to be on furlough in the US while I was recording for this series. BJ, Jill, Olivia, Sophie, and Graham Sanders are missionaries to the Wantakian tribe in Papua New Guinea, a village that can literally only be reached via helicopter or 28-hour hike. WHAT?! They’ve been there for 7 years and only come back to the States every three years give or take. SO it was totally Jesus that allowed us to connect and have them on the podcast to share their incredible story with us. I dare you to listen to this and not tear up once!

Learn more about the Sanders ministry in Papua New Guinea, at ReachWantakia.com. They also have an awesome YouTube channel where you can see where the Sanders and their team lives, meet the Wantakian people, and follow along in their ministry.

GIVE to the Sanders here! Every little bit helps y’all! Go over to their website, all their social media accounts, and YouTube channel (links below) to keep updated on all. The. Things! Subscribe to their newsletter on their website.

As Mentioned on the Podcast:

  • 1 Peter 5:5 ESV, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”

  • 1 Thessalonians 2:8-9 NIV, “Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the Gospel of God but our lives as well. Surely you remember, brothers and sisters, our toil and hardship; we worked day and night in order not to be a burden to anyone while we preached the Gospel of God to you.”

  • Ethnos 360 - “Motivated by the love of Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit, Ethnos360 exists to assist the ministry of the local church through the mobilizing, equipping and coordinating of believers to evangelize unreached people groups, translate the Scriptures and see indigenous churches established that glorify God.”

  • Perspectives on the World Christian Movement course

  • The Traveling Team - “The Traveling Team has been stirring university students all over the country to rise up and join God in reaching the world for Jesus Christ. Think of us as a missions conference on wheels.”

  • Student Mobilization (Stumo) & Kaleo Summer Project

  • Ee-Taow The Mouk Story (click link or watch video at the bottom of the page)

  • A Couple Extras:

    • Jill’s interview on The Messy Table Podcast

    • Thrive Ministry - “The mission of Thrive is to journey with women ministering overseas by providing spiritual resources, transformative experiences, and authentic one-on-one relationships to replenish them as they invest in Kingdom work.”

BONUS QUESTIONS!

We can’t get to ALL the questions on the podcast, otherwise the episodes would be 3 hours long…you know ya girl can talk! So, I thought it would be fun to ask a few blog post exclusive questions. These are just for fun and often food related 😜:

  1. What is an “American” food that you miss the most? JILL: Hamburgers! We can get some beef from the grocery store, but when we get it it’s frozen, then thawed, then frozen again…and it’s brown. And it’s mostly white, because it’s mostly fat. BJ: Chips and salsa and Mexican food and just all of it!

  2. Favorite things you’ve received in care packages? Chik-Fil-A sauce! Beef jerky, gum, any kind of candy

  3. What is your favorite thing about Papua New Guinea (besides the ministry)? The slow pace of life. We love that. Literally their word for “noon” could be any time between 10am and 2pm.

  4. Favorite Wantakian word/saying you've learned? There’s no way I could type this one out, so I have an audio clip for you! Here’s your first Wantakian language lesson with BJ and Jill. 😄 ↓
